Ralph Levenberg was recognized as Veteran of the Month for June 2012 for his ongoing service to veterans at the Reno Veterans Hospital. “Mr. Levenberg has been a decorated war veteran, recognized as former prisoner of war, and continues to serve the veteran community as POW Coordinator for the Reno VA Medical Center,” said Executive Director Caleb Cage. “Governor Sandoval is always appreciative of those whom have served in the military and the ongoing service veterans like Mr. Levenberg continue to provide and this is but a small way we can recognize those who continue to give back to our community.” Mr. Levenberg is well known in the military and veteran community for his service to his country as a survivor of the Bataan Death March while he was a prisoner of war for 1,244 days, nearly three and a half years. In addition to the nearly 10,000 hours he has
logged at the Reno VA Hospital, Mr. Levenberg is a volunteer POW consultant. “Very few people have experienced the kind of things Mr. Levenberg had to endure, and few people provide the kind of volunteerism he provides. It is truly our honor to recognize him,” said Cage.
