NOVS Executive Director Tim Tetz
 Tim Tetz was appointed as Executive Director of the Nevada Office of Veterans Services, by Governor Guinn, in March 2006. A veteran of the United States Coast Guard from 1990 – 1992, Tetz brought over a decade of volunteer service on behalf of Nevada’s 300,000 veterans to his position.
The Nevada Office of Veterans Services, (NOVS) was established in 1946 to assist veterans, their families, and residents of Nevada serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. NOVS operates two State Veterans Cemeteries, in Fernley and Boulder City, which inter nearly 2,000 veterans or their family members each year. In addition, veterans or their spouses in need of skilled nursing care may qualify for admission to the Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City. Finally, NOVS oversees a Guardianship Program, for veterans VA deems incompetent, a Service Officer Program, to connect Nevada’s veterans with VA entitlements they have earned, and a Women’s Veterans Program, to assist Nevada’s 19,000 female veterans.
A native Nevadan, Director Tetz attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy before finishing his studies of mathematics and computer science at the University of Nevada. Following completion of his military service, Tetz returned to Nevada and joined the American Legion, serving as Commander of Darrell Dunkle Post #1 in Reno and Capitol Post #4 in Carson City. In 2003, he was elected to serve as Department Commander for the State of Nevada. Since then Tetz served on the National Legislative Commission, and currently chairs the Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Affairs Committee.
Director Tetz married his wife, Jennifer Solie of Billings, Montana, in 1997. They are the proud parents of a son, Brayton, and daughter, Zoe. Together, they still own Fleet Feet Sports in Carson City.
