A recent visitor to our website asked, "Is there any action being taken by NOVS to increase the amount of property tax exemption for 100% disabled veterans or to completely exempt them from any and all property taxes?"



At our Legislative Symposium in March, the subject of veteran property taxes was discussed a number of times.  Following a thorough review of issues pertaining to veterans that could/should be addressed in the coming two years, two issues were prioritized relating to this subject.  Tentatively, our fourth most important issue to pursue at the 2009 session of the Nevada Legislature was a 100% exemption from property taxes for those 100% service connected veterans (and 100% Individually Unemployable (I.U.).  Also, the tentative seventh priority was to add an additional level of exemption to include those veterans who are 21-40% disabled to receive a greater disabled exemption.
