Caring for Nevada’s heroes in the Nevada State Veterans Home (NSVH) places many important demands on the leadership and staff of the Home and the Nevada Department of Veterans Services. While Federal and State agencies conduct frequent, comprehensive surveys and inspections of the home, there is a need for ongoing independent review of NSVH operations and practices to ensure a holistic review of quality of care and quality of life in order to improve both. To provide this review, the Director of the Nevada Department of Veterans Services has created The Nevada State Veterans Home Independent Review Panel (here-to-for referred to as “The Panel”).
The Panel provides an ongoing, independent review of the NSVH. It advises both the Veterans Services Commission and the Nevada Department of Veterans Services on ways to improve the quality of the program to make it more successful in achieving its mission—caring for Nevada’s Heroes.
In the pursuit of this purpose the Panel will: Identify important issues related to the operation of the NSVH, initiate and conduct studies concerned with these issues, convene interested parties, and prepare authoritative statements and reports on these issues when, in the judgment of the Panel they would assist the Nevada Department of Veterans Services improve quality of care and quality of life for NSVH residents.
