Aguilar is a retired Navy Sailor, who despite the retirement remains very active in his local community in Pahrump, NV. He is an active member of the VFW and now the commander of Post 10054 where he leads by example and inspires others to improve the post for both its members and the wider community. Since being with the post he has both led, fundraised, and physically worked on facility improvements putting on new fencing, awnings tables, water misters, a barbecue, and outdoor games. He personally helped replace the roof of the building enabling weekly meetings to take place there. Through it all he also helps acquire and provide wheelchairs and walkers to local disabled veterans and helped raise $2000 through the post’s annual poppy drive helping to provide food, clothing and emergency funds to veterans for medical, transportation, and utility cost. Aguilar has also been an incredible resource for his community, spearheading a poker run to benefit his local Toys for Tots toy drive and raising funds for Nye County’s Homeless Children Activity Fund.

NDVS (Nevada Department of Veterans Services) is currently dealing with a large number of requests.

VSO intake appointments are taking about 30–90 days to schedule. The wait time depends on which location you choose and appointment availability. If you have already submitted a request, you may need to wait longer than usual for someone to contact you. It does not necessarily mean your request has a problem, it’s primarily a notice about the current backlog.
