A Luncheon at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Northern Nevada State Veterans (NNSVH) home has been closed to the many visitors, volunteers, and community supporters who would often be around to help boost morale. However, throughout the past several months, many of the Home’s community partners and supporters have stepped up to help boost morale in the few ways still possible.

The latest example of this was on October 7th, when members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 989 and their associates threw a barbeque lunch for the staff of the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home. This lunch was served by the VVA to the staff as an appreciation for their hard work, sacrifice, and commitment to the residents in their care.

“We know that all staff here at the veterans Home have been terribly busy for some time and we hope this brief luncheon break will put a smile (and maybe some rib sauce) on your face,” said VVA 989 President J.R. Stafford.

Although the main event was around the lunch hour, VVA 989 also left “to go” boxes for the evening and night shifts as a reminder that they’re not forgotten. NDVS is grateful for the support of our community partners and supporters and look forward to the day when guests and visitors can return to the Home.
