Housing

No veteran should have to face the hardship of homelessness or housing insecurity, given the sacrifices they’ve made in service to their country.

Many veterans face challenges such as financial instability, mental health struggles, or a lack of support networks, which can put them at risk of losing their homes. To combat this, there are numerous housing resources available to ensure veterans have a safe and stable place to live.

Transportation

Veterans are eligible for various transportation benefits designed to improve access to essential services and enhance their quality of life. These benefits often include discounted or free public transit fares, non-emergency medical transportation to VA facilities, and mileage reimbursement for travel related to VA healthcare appointments.

Additionally, programs like the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) provide convenient, safe travel options for eligible veterans with disabilities or mobility challenges, ensuring veterans can access the resources and opportunities they need.

NDVS (Nevada Department of Veterans Services) is currently dealing with a large number of requests.

VSO intake appointments are taking about 30–90 days to schedule. The wait time depends on which location you choose and appointment availability. If you have already submitted a request, you may need to wait longer than usual for someone to contact you. It does not necessarily mean your request has a problem, it’s primarily a notice about the current backlog.
