Whether you’re looking for help with everyday expenses, emergency financial assistance, education and training benefits, or support for starting a business, there are federal, state, and local programs available to assist. These resources aim to honor your service by providing the financial stability and opportunities you deserve.

Available Resources

Life Insurance

Veterans Affairs Life Insurance (VALife) became available January 1, 2023 and offers guaranteed acceptance whole life coverage of up to $40,000 to Veterans with service-connected disabilities. Learn more about VALife. Lesser amounts are available in increments of $10,000. Under this plan, the elected coverage takes effect two years after enrollment as long as premiums are paid during the two-year period. Learn more about Veterans Affairs Life Insurance.

Loan Programs

VA helps Veterans, Servicemembers, and eligible surviving spouses become homeowners. As part of our mission to serve you, we provide a home loan guaranty benefit and other housing-related programs to help you buy, build, repair, retain, or adapt a home for your own personal occupancy.

VA Home Loans are provided by private lenders, such as banks and mortgage companies. VA guarantees a portion of the loan, enabling the lender to provide you with more favorable terms.

The Food Bank of Northern Nevada connects families and individuals to the food and resources they need to thrive. Working with more than 155 partner agencies and through direct service programs, they create opportunities for over 160,000 neighbors each month to access fresh, nourishing meals.
