Transportation

Nevada offers a variety of transportation programs specifically designed to help veterans get to VA medical appointments and other essential services—many of which are free or offered at a low cost.

In Nevada, veterans in need of transportation to VA medical appointments and other essential care have access to several tailored programs, many free or at low cost.

Together, these programs form a statewide network of transportation solutions ranging from mileage reimbursements and volunteer shuttles to public transit discounts, designed to ensure Nevada veterans can access vital healthcare, even in rural and underserved areas.

Non-Emergency Veterans Medical Appointment Transportation (NEV-MAT)

Getting to a medical appointment can be challenging, especially for veterans living in
rural, frontier, or tribal communities. To help connect veterans with available
transportation options, NDVS has compiled a directory of organizations and providers that offer non-emergency transportation to one of Nevada’s three assigned VA medical centers, as well as other health care appointments that may be available through individual providers.

This resource is intended to help veterans, family members, caregivers, and service
providers identify transportation options that may be available in their area. Because
services, eligibility requirements, service areas, and availability vary by provider, veterans should contact organizations directly to determine whether transportation is
available for their specific needs. Users of this directory are encouraged to review
provider information carefully, including any applicable fees, cancellation policies, or
other service requirements, prior to scheduling transportation.

Disclaimer: NDVS provides this directory as a public information resource only. Inclusion in this directory does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, certification, or guarantee of any organization, individual, vehicle, or service. NDVS does not supervise or inspect the providers listed and is not responsible for their services. Veterans are responsible for contacting providers directly to verify eligibility, availability, scheduling, and any applicable requirements or costs.

NDVS (Nevada Department of Veterans Services) is currently dealing with a large number of requests.

VSO intake appointments are taking about 30–90 days to schedule. The wait time depends on which location you choose and appointment availability. If you have already submitted a request, you may need to wait longer than usual for someone to contact you. It does not necessarily mean your request has a problem, it’s primarily a notice about the current backlog.
