Gold Star Families visit Nevada State Veterans Memorial

Gold Star Families in southern Nevada received special recognition and honor during the month of February.  Twenty-eight Gold Star Family members visited the Nevada State Veterans Memorial, located in front of the Grant Sawyer Building in Las Vegas. Each received a white rose to place at one of the statues at the memorial. Each also received a memorial brochure from Fred Wagar, NDVS Deputy Director of Operations. The brochure outlined a description of the statues located at the Veterans Memorial. This event was hosted by NDVS and the Transition Assistance Program for Spouses (TAPS).  TAPS selects family members to make certain trips in tribute of the loved one they lost in combat.  Funding is paid for by donations to the TAPS program.  There is no cost to the Gold Star Families.

In addition to the special visit to the Nevada State Veterans Memorial, Gold Star Families were also invited to attend the Pro Bowl of the National Football League at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.  The TAPS program provides the funding so Gold Star Families may enjoy the event.
