Message from Director Devine

As the children head back to school and the summer winds down, it’s important to never let the busy daily bustle keep us from remembering what is important. I’m grateful for the opportunity to recognize and honor Purple Heart recipients recently for their courage, bravery, service, and sacrifice. We owe them, their families, their loved ones, and Gold Star parents a debt we can never repay. Next month, we will remember September 11th and honor our warriors who were Prisoners of War or remain Missing in Action. It is important we never forget those who gave all, to preserve our way of life.

Also, next month we will be working in partnership with the Nevada National Guard to host an important event on Saturday, September 14th as we also recognize National Suicide Prevention Month in September. The event, “Let’s Talk About It,” will be held at the Centennial Hills Park Amphitheater from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. All service members, veterans, and their families are encouraged to join us for this free community event. It is imperative we offer support and resources to our brothers and sisters when they need us most. Click HERE to save your seat.

Finally, there are many events lined up for later this fall. You will be hearing more about them in the weeks ahead! I look forward to sharing this information with you and I hope to see you soon. Thank you again for all your support and your advocacy for the veterans, military members and families we serve!

Warmest regards,
Col. Mary Devine
