Nevada Prepares to Remember, Honor, and Teach

Plans are underway for Wreaths Across America Day in Nevada.

Plans are underway for Wreaths Across America Day in Nevada.

This year’s ceremonies will take place on Saturday, December 19, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City and 9:00 a.m. at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.

The annual event provides an opportunity to honor and remember our veterans while teaching future generations about the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military heroes.  Over the years, Wreaths Across America has become a tradition for many Nevada families, veterans and service organizations, churches, civic groups, as well as individuals.

Following the ceremonies, participants place remembrance wreaths at veteran’s gravesites. As each wreath is placed, volunteers are encouraged to say the name aloud. This serves as a simple but powerful act to ensure each individual and their service are remembered.

Wreaths Across America is conducted at more than 2,100 locations across the United States.

Special thanks to the Nevada Veterans Coalition in Northern Nevada and the Civil Air Patrol 802nd Squadron in Southern Nevada for their continued assistance and support of this annual event.

The Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive in Boulder City. The Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is located at 14 Veterans Way in Fernley.

NDVS (Nevada Department of Veterans Services) is currently dealing with a large number of requests.

VSO intake appointments are taking about 30–90 days to schedule. The wait time depends on which location you choose and appointment availability. If you have already submitted a request, you may need to wait longer than usual for someone to contact you. It does not necessarily mean your request has a problem, it’s primarily a notice about the current backlog.
