Operation Warm Heart – Adopt a Family

Operation Warm Heart is a non-profit initiative created by First Sergeants across Nellis and Creech Air Force Bases to provide emergency financial relief, food assistance, gift cards, and essential support to Airmen, Guardians, and their families facing hardships.

While our mission operates year-round, our efforts expand significantly during Thanksgiving and Christmas to ensure no military family is left behind during the holidays, supplementing critical aid organizations such as Air Force Aid Society.

How the Adopt-A-Family Program Works

Through our Adopt-A-Family program, generous community leaders, businesses, and civic organizations are paired directly with nominated military families in need. Donors receive personalized wish lists containing essential household items, clothing sizes, and children’s holiday wishes, allowing you to directly impact a family’s holiday experience.

How Your Partnership Makes a Difference:

Adopt-A-Family: Sponsor one or more families by fulfilling their personalized holiday wish list. To register or indicate your preferences (e.g., family size, number of children, or specific age ranges), please reply directly to this email or contact us at 775-545-2591 / 99fss.lasvegas.owh@us.af.mil.

Gift Cards & General Donations: If you or your team prefers not to shop for individual wish lists, gift cards (grocery, department stores, general retail) or monetary contributions to Operation Warm Heart are also tremendously appreciated and distributed directly to families with urgent holiday needs.

NDVS (Nevada Department of Veterans Services) is currently dealing with a large number of requests.

VSO intake appointments are taking about 30–90 days to schedule. The wait time depends on which location you choose and appointment availability. If you have already submitted a request, you may need to wait longer than usual for someone to contact you. It does not necessarily mean your request has a problem, it’s primarily a notice about the current backlog.
