September – Veteran of the Month/Veteran Supporter of the Month

We congratulate Jesse Tiffany for being named Veteran of the Month (VOM) and Steve Secora for being recognized as Veteran Supporter for the Month (VSM) for September 2021.

Tiffany is an Army Veteran whose commitment to his brothers and sisters in arms knows no bounds. He has served as the Senior Vice Commander of VFW Post 3396 and volunteers his time in counselling, peer to peer sessions, suicide prevention, and with the Addiction Support Network. Despite his workload, he goes out of his way to check in on Veterans struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and suicidal tendencies, at times traveling several hundred miles to talk with them. Tiffany is also a Blue Star Parent and works with the local Blue Star Mother chapters to help provide basic necessities for deployed servicemembers. On top of this work, in 2021, Tiffany began the Jesse Tiffany American Journey Project to help spread awareness of the over 81,000 missing in action servicemembers and of Project Recover, a national nonprofit which actively works with the Department of Defense to locate and identify the remains of these individuals and bring them back home. Throughout his travels, he has spoken to various groups about his challenges and volunteer work to address addiction and suicide prevention.

Seccora is a local franchise owner of Sports Clips Haircuts in Sparks, Nevada who has been both a financial contributor and volunteer with VFW Post 3396 in helping them fundraise for many of their programs. He has been a sponsor of their Youth Scholarship Award and through the larger organization, has helped contribute $1,026,105 to the VFW/ Sport Clips “Help A Hero Scholarship” program. This program helps servicemembers and veterans attend post-secondary educations and trade schools. The impact of this program has been felt statewide. Over the years, the scholarships have totaled more than $8.7 million.  Seccora has also provided free haircuts to veterans and active-duty servicemembers on Veterans Day.
