A Local Investment. A Lasting Impact.
Help Keep Veteran Support in Washoe County.

Through a partnership between Washoe County and the Nevada Department of Veterans Services, two dedicated Veterans Service Officers (VSOs) have helped local veterans and their families navigate the benefits and resources they have earned at no cost to the veteran.

This partnership was made possible through Washoe County’s investment using county temporary federal pandemic recovery funding. As that funding comes to an end, the community has an opportunity to help sustain this vital service and ensure Washoe County veterans continue to have access to free, dedicated support.

Why Your Donation Matters

Your contribution will help sustain Veterans Service Officer services for Washoe County veterans and their families.

Veterans Service Officers connect veterans and their families with earned benefits, resources, and programs which help them understand their options, complete VA claims processing and provide access to the support they have earned through U.S. military service.

Your support will help continue this important connection between veterans and the benefits, resources, and programs they deserve.

Supporting Veterans. Strengthening the Community.

When veterans successfully access the benefits they have earned, those resources also benefit the communities where they live.

VSOs help bring earned federal benefits back to Nevada communities which supports the veteran, their family, and the local economy.

Why Washoe County?

This effort builds on an existing partnership between Washoe County and the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.

Through a unique opportunity to use Washoe County’s temporary federal recovery funds, the county was able to expand local access to VSO services and provide additional support to veterans and their families.

As that funding comes to an end, NDVS and Washoe County are working together to explore ways to sustain this successful local partnership. Community support will help preserve access to these important veterans services in Washoe County.

Will other counties have access to this opportunity?

NDVS remains committed to serving veterans statewide through our existing network of VSOs, programs, and resources. This effort is specific to sustaining a local partnership and service model established in Washoe County. NDVS remains open to exploring future opportunities to collaborate with communities interested in expanding support for veterans and their families. For more information about this initiative or to discuss opportunities to support VSO services in your county, please contact Glenna Smith at smithg@veterans.nv.gov.
