Wreaths Across America Set for Saturday, December 17, 2022

(Fernley & Boulder City, Nev.) – Wreaths Across America will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at both the Northern and Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemeteries beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The event provides the opportunity to honor, remember and teach future generations about the service and sacrifice of our military heroes through this annual event. Over the years, the event has become a tradition for many Nevada families, service organizations as well as church and civic groups. The ceremony remembers and honors veterans by having participants lay a “wreath of remembrance” on each gravesite and saying aloud the name of each veteran as they do so.

Special thanks to the Nevada Veterans Coalition in northern Nevada and the Civil Air Patrol 802nd Squadron in southern Nevada for their assistance and support for this event. Wreaths Across America is conducted at more than 2,100 locations in the United States to remember our fallen veterans, honor those who serve, and teach children the value of freedom.

The Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive in Boulder City.

The Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery is located at 14 Veterans Way in Fernley.

NDVS (Nevada Department of Veterans Services) is currently dealing with a large number of requests.

VSO intake appointments are taking about 30–90 days to schedule. The wait time depends on which location you choose and appointment availability. If you have already submitted a request, you may need to wait longer than usual for someone to contact you. It does not necessarily mean your request has a problem, it’s primarily a notice about the current backlog.
