Cemetery Clean-up Event at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery

With the recent expansion of group size limits, the Patriot Guard Riders of Southern Nevada began planning a volunteer event to assist the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The cemetery located in Boulder City, is a focal point for the veteran community in southern Nevada and was impacted by the hiring freezes instituted this past summer due to the pandemic. These freezes unfortunately created delays in required landscaping maintenance.

On Sat., Oct. 10, their event came to fruition as approximately 125 volunteers showed up to assist with landscaping maintenance and in cleanup efforts around the monuments of the cemetery. These volunteers provided in total over 375-man-hours in service to the cemetery all the while maintaining social distancing guidelines. Much of the landscaping maintenance impacted by the pandemic was addressed by the truckload.

NDVS Deputy Director of Operations, Fred Wagar was at the cemetery for the event and said, “We are grateful to these volunteers supporting the cemetery in honor of Nevada’s fallen heroes and are inspired by the support shown today.”

NDVS thanks the following organizations for their support of this effort:
