The Nevada Office of Veterans Services (NOVS) presented December’s Veteran of the Month award to Danny Waldrop on behalf of Governor Brian Sandoval at a ceremony on Monday, December 3. “Mr. Waldrop epitomizes the veteran volunteer in our community,” said NOVS Executive Director Caleb Cage. “His service involvement includes a long list of veteran organizations as well as service groups benefiting the general public.”
Mr. Waldrop has not only been active in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled Veterans of America, but he has received service commendations from each of these organizations. His service extends to the Reno VA Hospital, Senior Auxiliary Volunteer for the Reno Police Department and there are still more organizations and volunteerism which could be included as part of his focus on serving.
Denise Estes, a member of the American Legion, initiated the nomination of Mr. Waldrop along with other members. “When we discussed this at our post, everyone was in total agreement if you had to define what a veteran volunteer is, it would have to have Danny’s name next to,” said Mrs. Estes.
Mr. Waldrop is referred to as the “hub of the volunteering wheel" by friends and associates in the Reno and Sparks area all while he himself is a 100% service connected disabled veteran. We are proud to have this opportunity to recognize Mr. Waldrop’s service to the Nevada community and hope you will join us for this presentation.
