Mann Named Veteran of the Month and Pratte Named Veteran Supporter of the Month

Mann Named Veteran of the Month and Pratte Named Veteran Supporter of the Month

Marion (Monk) Mann has been named Veteran of the Month and Alison Prattle has been named Veteran Supporter of the Month for the month of March. Mann was selected for this honor and recognition due to his volunteer work at the VA hospital and Veterans Guest House. He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Veterans Guest House, including currently serving as President where he helped oversee the recently dedicated $4.5 million-dollar expansion of the facility. Mann has served as a guardian for Nevada’s Honor Flight, he is a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 989, Reno and is also a member of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Military Officers of America Association.

Pratte is currently the Director of Psychological Health for the 152nd Wing of the Nevada Air National Guard. She is a civilian working as a licensed Clinical Social Worker who serves the military population in northern and southern Nevada. She has been instrumental in providing key support, guidance and assistance to military members and first responders in the suicide prevention initiative called the Truckee Meadows Mayor’s Challenge.

The Veteran of the Month is awarded to veterans across Nevada who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, specifically with respect to volunteer work in support of veterans and the military. The Veteran Supporter of the Month award recognizes both organizations and non-veteran Nevada community members who support military members stationed in Nevada, Nevada Veterans, and their families.

Both programs shine a bright light on individuals and organizations that help military members, veterans, and their families with no expectation of recognition or award.

The March Veteran of the Month and Veteran Supporter of the Month ceremony has been postponed. The Nevada Department of Veterans Services will provide information on re-scheduling once this unprecedented health crisis is over.
