Happy New Year to my fellow veterans, families, and advocates!
2022 has been a year of change for NDVS as we had several personnel move on. Leadership has changed, but our mission remains steadfast as we move into 2023 with great expectations of accomplishing even more moving forward.
I want to thank all our veterans, military personnel and all their supporters for the dedicated service you continue to provide to our state and country. Volunteers from across the state continue to offer support in their communities and I’m so proud to be a part of the services these services.
As we wrap up 2022, I want to especially thank all the NDVS employees for their dedication to our veterans, military personnel, and their families. This team works extremely hard to support the NDVS mission.
As 2022 ends, I want to mention the Wreaths Across America event that took place on December 17th, breaking all previous attendance records. I invite you to check out the Wreaths Across America photo gallery and story under Honoring Our Heroes in this newsletter!
We start 2023 preparing for the Legislative Session. If you haven’t done so, I encourage you to register for the upcoming Veterans Legislative Summit taking place in Las Vegas on Saturday, January 14th and in Reno on Saturday, January 21st. This event is held in partnership with the United Veterans Legislative Council (UVLC). To learn more and register, go HERE. The session begins February 6, 2023 which is just around the corner!
We want to invite the entire community to our January 25th cemetery expansion groundbreaking ceremony at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Our second NDVS-hosted Nevada Transition Assistance Program (NVTAP) event is set to take place in Fallon on February 11, 2023, at the Fallon Convention Center.
NDVS will mark its 80th birthday in 2023 and this year is already shaping up to be a banner year for the department! Watch our newsletter for upcoming events!
In closing, there are many new and exciting events ahead in the New Year. I’m looking forward to sharing them with you and hope to see you soon.
Respectfully,
Fred Wagar
