Some 24 veterans and 12 spouses were recognized last month during a Veterans in Care (VIC) ceremony at Red Rock Pointe Retirement Community in Las Vegas.
The veterans were presented with a signed certificate, Nevada Heroes Pin, and personal American Flag. American Legion Post 76 was in attendance to present the colors and assist with the Nevada Heroes Pin, which is specifically given to attendees of the VIC ceremonies.
NDVS Southern Nevada Outreach Director Maria Mandaleni-Orozco provided information on benefits through the Veterans Benefit Administration including disability compensation, Aid & Attendance, different kinds of pensions, and other benefits available to veterans and their families.
Residents and their families had the privilege of watching yet another ceremony when American Legion Post 76 assisted Red Rock Pointe Retirement Community with a Flag Changing Ceremony on the front side of the building.
NDVS is proud to continue this program that connects these veterans and family members to earned benefits, as well as honors their service and sacrifice. If you work in or know of a facility interested in hosting a Veterans in Care Ceremony, please reach out to Rachel Jelenic, Healthcare Program Manager, at jelenicr@veterans.nv.gov.
