The annual Wreaths Across America events at both the Southern and Northern Veterans Memorial Cemeteries were an incredible success! Thank you to all the volunteers who participated on Saturday, December 14 at the Boulder City and Fernley Veterans Memorial Cemeteries!
At the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery (SNVMC), more than 2,500 people attended the opening ceremony inside the chapel which precedes the laying of the wreaths. Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony served as the keynote speaker. Thank you to the Civil Air Patrol cadets for their help and support! One of the cadets stepped up to sing the National Anthem, thrilling attendees who exploded in applause following the performance. A special thank you goes out to Sam Howard, Senior Director of Event Technology with Encore Global for donating the sound system for the opening ceremony! It made all the difference in the world.
In addition to the 2,500+ people attending the ceremony, NDVS estimates there were up to 8,000 people on the grounds to lay12,084 wreaths!
At the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery (NNVMC), an estimated 1,600 volunteers turned out to lay 8,000 wreaths! Special thanks to the Nevada Veterans Coalition for their help and support of this event!
Thank you to everyone who participated!
