Be Part of the Suicide Prevention Solution – What You Need to Do NOW

As we get ready to recognize Suicide Prevention Month in September and mark Suicide Prevention Day in Nevada on September 10, 2022, there are things you can do right now to play a role in helping veterans in crisis. How? By doing the following:

  • Put the number 988 to memory. It is the three-digit, easy to remember number to reach the Suicide Prevention and Crisis Lifeline. Share this number widely and know that it is a powerful resource that is always available at your fingertips.
  • Become a Nevada Veterans Advocate (NV Advocate). This volunteer opportunity helps to connect veterans and their families to information about resources and benefits that can enrich their lives. Simply put, NV Advocates can help veterans navigate to find needed resources. Go HERE to learn more.
  • Take the courses offered through the Nevada Office of Suicide Prevention including safeTALK training. Go HERE for more information.
  • Or, take the free S.A.V.E. training offered by the PsychArmor Institute by starting  HERE.

Finally, if you are a veteran or veteran advocate, take the Spartan Pledge right now.

“I WILL NOT TAKE MY OWN LIFE BY MY OWN HAND WITHOUT TALKING TO MY BATTLE BUDDY FIRST.

MY MISSION IS TO FIND A MISSION TO HELP MY WAR FIGHTER FAMILY.”
