Benefits Update for Vietnam War Veterans

The VA has begun implementing the William M. Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act by adding three conditions to the presumptive conditions associated with exposure to Agent Orange. These new presumptive conditions are Bladder Cancer, Hypothyroidism, and Parkinsonism. Veterans who have claimed any of these three conditions in the past will have their cases automatically reviewed; if granted service connection, the provisions of Nehver v. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will apply meaning that an earlier effective date for benefits could be granted. Veterans who meet the criteria for this change should expect a letter from the VA regarding this matter. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please contact our office to speak to a Veteran Service Officer
