Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award Presented Third Year in a Row

(Boulder City, NV) – The Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) is pleased to announce the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home (SNSVH) has received the 2019 Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award for the third year in a row. This national recognition identifies top performing leadership of skilled nursing care facilities from across the country. The American College of Health Care Administrators honored SNSVH Administrator Linda Gelinger with the leadership award earlier this month.

Gelinger said, “This award speaks volumes about the nurses and staff at the home and their commitment to provide the very best care to the veterans and families we serve. Congratulations are in order to our health care providers who give their all every single day, as our veterans deserve no less than the very best of care.”

Only 7% of facilities nationwide qualify for consideration of this prestigious award. This year, 1,129 facilities nationwide met the selection criteria. Only 286 administrators in 35 states received the honor. The award is based on quality indicators and occupancy rates using three years of survey data to identify top performers.

NDVS Health and Wellness Deputy Director Wendy Simons said, “Linda Gelinger and her staff have now received this significant recognition for several years in a row. I’m very proud of this team for their steadfast dedication and providing excellence in care to the veterans we serve.”

Based on the premise that facility excellence reflects leadership excellence, this award recognizes the Administrator of record who provided such leadership for the full 2018 calendar year. The recipients are identified using publicly-collected data by the Centers for Medicare & Medicare Services which is pulled and evaluated by an independent third party
