Get Involved If You Are Already an Nevada Veterans Advocate

This month there are many opportunities to get involved as a Nevada Veterans Advocate (NVA) in northern Nevada.

If you’re not an NVA, you have the opportunity to become one by attending a free, two-day workshop on April 6-7th at Harrah’s in downtown Reno.

Outreach Volunteer Opportunities:

March 20 – 7:15 AM – VAMDAL (Veterans and Military Day at the Legislature. We have a vendor table that we need help with and NVAs to assist with the day itself.

March 23 – Nevada Urban Indians 12th Annual Diabetes Health Fair and Pow Wow, 10 AM – 3 PM at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows.

March 30 – Vietnam War Veterans Remembrance Day and All Veterans Luncheon – 10 AM – 3 PM at the Reno Event Center.

April 5 – State of Nevada Career Fair – 10 AM – 2 PM at Harrah’s Convention Center in Reno.

April 6-7 – NVA Conference – help with conference check in at Harrah’s 7 AM.

March 11 – WAVE meeting, 1 PM, Douglas County Community Center, Gardnerville.

March 13 – Truckee Meadows Veterans Community Council, 3 PM, Reno VA Hospital, Conference Room C2353 (purple elevators, 2nd floor).

March 14 – Lyon County Healthy Communities Meeting, 9 AM at Silver Springs Community Center.

March 15 – Engage Veteran Professionals, 9 AM at Southside School, Reno (Sierra Nevada Journeys building)

March 19 – VetWorks Reno at Rue Bourbon, 7:30-9:30 PM.  Veterans networking and social group.

March 20 – Women Veterans Forum – Celebrating the Legacy of Nevada’ Women Veterans, 2 PM, Carson City, State Capitol Building, Guinn Room

March 26 – Family Stability Council, Winnemucca National Guard Armory, 1 PM.

March 26 – LGBTQ Veterans meeting at Northern Nevada Hopes, 5:30 PM.

March 29 – Ground Breaking for the Nevada Veterans Memorial, 10 AM, Sparks Marina.

VAMDAL – Veterans and Military Day at the Legislature, March 20, 2019

NDVS, in partnership with United Veterans Legislative Council, invites you to attend this event which raises awareness and shows appreciation for Nevada’s military and veteran communities.  The day will begin at 8 AM with coffee behind the Capitol building. The opening ceremony begins at 9 AM followed by legislative meetings and activities from 10 AM-noon.  Lunch will be available on the Legislative Mall at noon.

NVA Conference – April 6-7 at Harrah’s in Reno

SafeTALK Suicide Awareness Training

May 7 – 1:00-4:00 PM, TMCC/Meadowood Campus, Room 315, 5270 Neil Road, Reno
