Ernest Kimball is an Air Force veteran currently living in a skilled care facility for veterans in California. After hearing about the construction of the new Northern Nevada State Veterans Home, Kimball wrote the Nevada Department of Veterans Services saying; “wants to come home!” Because there is no skilled care facility for veterans in northern Nevada, many, like Kimball, are sent out-of-state. This takes them away from the community they know, their familiar surroundings as well as their loved ones and family at a time they need it most. We share his letter to demonstrate the need for a Veterans Home in our community. The new home has been a project “in the works” for the past 15 years! July 17, 2017 marked a significant day for veterans in northern Nevada.
