There was an amazing turnout for the Veterans Day celebration in Boulder City on Monday, November 11, 2024!
The day began with an opening ceremony and parade at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home. Former Nevada Governor Mike O’Callaghan’s grandson, Brian O’Callaghan served as the keynote speaker to kick off the day. Brian is an Army veteran and Purple Heart recipient had a unique perspective to share! His grandfather served as Nevada Governor in the 1970’s after distinguished career following his service during the Korean War where he lost his leg and received the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Star. Brian’s message was one of determination, triumph, gratitude, and service! Thank you to the Mayors of Boulder City and Henderson for their support as well!
The parade followed the opening ceremony with participation from so many community partners including the Boulder City Fire and Police Departments and the Boulder City Cruisin Car Club! The morning celebration was capped off with food trucks and a Classic Car Show.
The afternoon ceremony featured Governor Joe Lombardo as the keynote speaker! We cannot thank him enough for his participation and support! The day was capped off with an amazing flyover by the Boulder City Veterans Pilot Group!
Thank you to the American Legion Post 76 in Las Vegas, singer Genevieve Dew for her incredible performance of the National Anthem, Chaplain Pierre Woodly, as well as the volunteers with the Durango High School JROTC Space Force cadets and the Chamberlin University School of Nursing!
We want to thank everyone for their participation and support!!!!
