Job Overview
The position supports the Safety and Facilities Programs of the SNSVH.
Duties
- Operate, inspect, and adjust Life Safety Systems for the SNSVH to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering to include monitoring fire alarm panels, oxygen storage pressure levels, water pressure for the fire suppression system, and nurse call system.
- Perform scheduled interior and exterior facility inspections to ensure resident, employee, and visitor safety and compliance.
- Clean fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, and wheelchairs.
- Conduct and report water temperatures in resident and staff areas.
- Conduct monthly Safety inspections.
- Assist with disaster and fire drills.
- Ensure Disaster kits are up to date.
- Operate, inspect, and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use.
- Monitor physical condition of the facility to include electrical, structural, and mechanical systems to provide report on failures and deficiencies to Supervisor.
- Fulfill the Safety Program requirements and observe all applicable safety rules.
- Clean up trash and debris. Report landscape repairs.
- Fill in at the reception desk on a rotational schedule; greeting visitors and monitoring access to the facility; perform telephone duties; deliver daily newspaper to residents; modify music system; dim interior lights in the evening and escort mortuary staff.
- Generate staff and visitor badges to include photo and issuance of facility keys.
- Provide professional, compassionate customer service and assistance by communicating effectively with visitors, staff, and residents.
- Follow all SNSVH facility policies and protocols.
- Report allegations or suspicion of resident abuse immediately to the Director of Nursing Services to comply with the Nurse Practice Act.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education.
- Six months of experience involving public contact.
