NDVS – Clinical Social Worker Program Support for Community Mental Health Services- Clark County, Nevada



The Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) is hiring for a temporary, contractual Clinical Social Worker. Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Healthcare Services this position will support grant funded programs for Community Mental Health Services (CMHS) and services for serious mental illness (SMI). This will include working with community partners to ensure effective programming is monitored, gaps are addressed. This position will perform as a liaison to referral-based mental health treatment and oversee and monitor treatment outcomes. The target audience for mental health initiatives through NDVS is specific to Nevada Veterans and family members of Nevada Veterans.

Responsibilities and Standards

• Understand all elements of the grant goals and objectives of CMHS Block Grant to ensure compliance of all activities, data collection, and assist in data collection and reporting to the Deputy Director (DDHS) and Grants Analyst.
• Plan, coordinate, and travel to partnership meetings in identified counties.
• Address gaps in service and mitigate barriers for veterans to mental health treatment services, employment, and quality of life.
• Identify appropriate interventions and serve as a liaison to referral resources to mental health treatment services.
• Interview clients and conduct assessments and evaluations upon intake to refer to the appropriate service including but not limited to 1) based on geographic location, 2) based on insurance, 3) based on provider type required/suggested, and 4) based on previous history of SMI.
• Refer veterans to workforce opportunity resources as needed.
• Collaborate with providers to ensure competency, effectiveness of treatment, and facilitation of discussed barrier management.
• Provide on-going individual and family management education regarding issues of daily living, coping skills, and employment.
• Communicate effectively with DDHS and Health Program Specialist.
• Mitigate treatment barriers by 1) scheduling appointments, 2) requesting medication refills and pick-up, 3) patient-centered advocation.
• Locate, coordinate, and support clients in accessing resources to meet clients’ needs.
• Advocate for client’s rights and address social issues.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers.

Salary Information
The position is grant funded through October, 2027.
$32.00 – $35.00 per hour DOE.
Work Schedule – 40 hours per week, variable schedule to include occasional weekends and evenings.
This position is geographically located in Clark County, Nevada.
