LGBTQ+ Connection for Those Who Have Served

The LGBTQ+ program has recently taken an in-depth approach to enhancing our targeted outreach efforts. It is imperative for our program to ensure accessibility for veterans who identify as gender and sexually diverse, while also addressing key health concerns.

This month, we initiated a soft launch of our partnership with Henderson Equality Center, offering LGBTQ+ veterans a safe space to connect with our organization and share their experiences openly, free from judgement and social stigma.

Appointments are now available on Wednesdays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Henderson Equality Center, located at 1490 W Sunset Rd Ste 120, Henderson, NV 89014.

Human Rights Campaign Gala

Our NDVS program had the privilege of honoring LGBTQ+ veterans at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Gala, recognizing their invaluable service, particularly during the challenging times of Don't Ask Don't Tell (DADT). It is essential that we provide opportunities for these veterans to receive the recognition they deserve from our community. We have begun disseminating information at NSU and UNLV to increase visibility for our program, especially among younger LGBTQ+ veterans.

Military Sexual Trauma

For veterans who have experienced military sexual trauma (MST), it is important to note they may be eligible for specialized medical treatment related to their trauma, even if they do not qualify for benefits through traditional channels.

Our LGBTQ+ Program will continue to spear head positive change and establish a new gold standard for gender and sexually diverse veterans.
