We are pleased to introduce our newest members of the NDVS team! In alphabetical order, Julianne Dimassis and Kristina Karle joined NDVS last month and are just getting oriented and ready to serve as Veterans Service Officers (VSOs) to assist veterans and their families with filing claims or appeals to the VA.
Julianne Dimassis will be stationed in Fallon. While not a veteran herself, her fiancé is a disabled veteran and members of her family have served for generations. Ms. Dimassis’ had hoped to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps but a diagnosis with a disability kept her from pursuing her dream to join the Corps. So, she pivoted and began volunteering with veteran-based agencies in San Diego. While earning her master’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, she served as an intern at the Veterans Village San Diego and worked with Parolee Marines transition out of the criminal justice system.
Ms. Dimassis is passionate about defending the rights of people with disabilities and those who have defended our nation as well. Ms. Dimassis believes that being a VSO is the culmination of everything she has learned, lived, and loved over the years.
Ms. Dimassis, her fiancé and their 150-pound Newfoundland recently moved to Nevada, settling in Fallon. Thankfully, she has a sense of humor about fur removal and enjoys art quilting, building things, coffee, and country music. She may be reached at DimassisJ@Veterans.nv.gov or at the Fallon Office: (775) 428-1177.
Kristina Karle will serve as our Women Veterans Service Officer. She is a U.S. Marine Corp veteran who graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. Ms. Karle served as a commissioned officer for 11 years as a 3002 Supply Officer. She has been twice deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism and Operation Inherent Resolve. Additionally, she worked as a U.S. Army Logistician for four years, obtaining the rank of captain prior to leaving military service in 2021.
Ms. Karle is passionate about helping all veterans access the benefits they have earned through their service to our country. She is excited to continue serving servicemembers, veterans, and their families as part of the NDVS team. Ms. Karle enjoys being outdoors, playing ice hockey, and cuddling with her Huskey. She may be reached at karlek@veterans.nv.gov or in the Reno Office: (775) 321-4880.
