National Elks Magazine Features NNSVH Resident

NDVS Director Fred Wagar stopped by the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home last month for a special presentation to one of its residents.

World War II veteran Sheldon Beigel’s photo was featured in the most recent edition of the national Elks Magazine. As an Elks member, Director Wagar made it a point to present Sheldon with a copy of the magazine and to congratulate him.

NDVS State Home Liaison Officer, Julie Dudley describes Beigel as a “local superstar” at the home adding, “He’s very well known within the veteran community and always has lots of visitors.” Beigel was a bombardier, flying in 32 combat missions in World War II.

His service earned him the French Legion of Honor medal.

The Elks Magazine photo, submitted thanks to NNSVH team members and Sparks Elks Don and Tyler, showed Beigel with his prize from one of the Monday Night Football games sponsored by the Sparks Elks.
