NDVS Collaboration with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

NDVS is proud to announce its continued collaboration with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) with the launch of a two-page resource flyer. The flyer is the first of its kind in identifying and targeting a subgroup of military exposures and presumed conditions with clinical and veteran-centric resources.

On September 22nd of 2021, NDVS and LLS hosted a two-hour educational event, Stand up for Bill: An Educational Event for Nevada’s Blood Cancer Veterans, Families, and Providers. During this event, attendees heard from a VA Oncologist, Veteran Service Officer (VSO) Supervisor, and Agent Orange widow on the importance of connecting a current blood cancer diagnosis with past military exposures when present and appropriate. Overviews of both NDVS and LLS at the organizational level were also included so attendees had a clear picture of our separate missions that so easily joined forces.

This two-page resource flyer has much of the information presented at the September 22, 2021, event including potentially associated military exposures, VSO contact information, and one-on-one support through information specialists.

Links and QR codes are accessible so that users can easily visit webpages referenced on both NDVS and LLS sites. A box can be found on the back side of the flyer containing information on the Stand Up for Bill educational event, where the attached link accesses a playlist of the recorded presentations. These presentations covered a range of related topics like compensatory diseases, survivorship issues, earned military benefits, and support resources.

More information on blood cancer for Nevada’s veterans, families, and providers can be found at the NDVS website HERE. The two-page resource flyer is also available for download at the previous link.
