NDVS Supports Suicide Prevention Efforts

NDVS is not missing any opportunities to support efforts and events aimed at preventing suicide.

During Suicide Prevention Month in September, NAS Fallon Base held its second annual 5k Color Run and NDVS was there!  There were 25 Naval servicemembers who participated in the 5k Color Run (more than the previous year). NDVS was the only organization to be an exhibitor and share information about the suicide prevention program as well as services NDVS has to offer.  Overall, there were about 75 people in attendance for this event.  NAS Fallon suicide prevention colors are blue and yellow and those were the colors included in the color run.

Additionally, the Winnemucca Mayor’s Challenge Team Leads and Humboldt County Suicide Prevention Taskforce planned and participated in the Walk in Memory, Walk in Hope for suicide prevention month which was held on September 14th. Everyone wore blue t-shirts to represent the teal part of the suicide prevention ribbon.  They had approximately 50 attendees at this event to raise awareness in the Winnemucca community for suicide prevention!
