The Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (NNSVH) recently received a 5-Star quality rating, the highest possible, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). According to CMS, only the top 10 percent of skilled care nursing facilities in each state receive a 5-Star quality rating.
CMS uses the star rating system as a tool to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare quality between nursing homes. This is the first year the facility became eligible to be rated under the CMS rating system after opening in 2019.
The system gives each nursing home a rating between 1-and-5 Stars with the lowest rating of 1-Star. CMS notes 5-Star rated nursing homes are considered above average in quality and care. The CMS rating categories includes five categories: Overall Quality, Health Inspections, Quality Measures, Staffing and RN Staffing.
“A 5-Star rating from CMS is the ultimate team achievement earned by facilities that can guarantee a top-notch, premium health care experience,” said Michael Ball, NNSVH Administrator. “This designation says so many positive things about our leadership team and health care providers who are passionate about delivering the very best of care. Our veterans and their families deserve the very best and this demonstrates we are committed to providing it.”
