The time is now to submit your nomination to support a veteran or veteran’s family for the Walker Furniture “Home for the Holidays” program. The retailer will select 30 recipients to receive a complete houseful of brand-new furniture!
This year marks the 31st year for the Walker Furniture program that assists a deserving veteran or family of a veteran by providing a new beginning for individuals or families facing challenging circumstances.
“Our annual ‘Home for the Holidays’ program has been a beacon of hope for those facing challenging circumstances and in need of essential furniture for the past 31 years,” said Larry Alterwitz, CEO of Walker Furniture and Veteran Supporter of the Month recipient. “We invite the community to get involved by submitting a letter detailing a family or individual’s situation. Your participation can make a significant difference.”
Early submissions are recommended. Letters can be submitted by anyone, including first responders, teachers, health care professionals, social service workers, clergy, friends, neighbors, and family members. The letters should describe the unique and often difficult situations the families are facing. Many families lack even the basic necessities such as beds, chairs, and dining tables.
Submit Your Nomination Letters by Tuesday, December 10th– Early Submissions are Encouraged! To submit a nomination, go online at www.walkerfurniture.com /home-for-holidays, or mail them to Larry Alterwitz at Walker Furniture’s MLK store, 301 S. Martin Luther King Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89106, or drop them off at either Walker location – Downtown or Henderson.
Partnering this year with Walker Furniture, is CenterWell Senior Primary Care, a local health care provider dedicated to the physical, emotional and social wellness of its patients. CenterWell will review and verify the thousands of letters received. Their trained staff will visit the nominated families to assess those with the most pressing needs. Additionally, Las Vegas Rescue Mission will provide food and toys, Star Nursery will supply Christmas trees and decorations, and various other community organizations will offer additional support.
Letters must be received by Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2024, to be evaluated by an independent panel. The final selection of the 30 recipients will be made by an Executive Committee including community leaders, representatives from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue, and local media personalities.
