Operation Battleborn: Ruck to Remember

(Las Vegas to Fernley, NV) – In Nevada, Operation Battleborn: Ruck to Remember is a unique way to honor and remember the military men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice since September 11, 2001. The Nevada ruck march combines the challenges of a grueling marathon with the comrade and teamwork necessary to complete any endeavor by a large group.

Check out this ruck march video: https://www.unlv.edu/veterans.

The Nevada march will start May 17th at 9:00 AM. at the Battle Born Memorial in Carson City.  Over the course of 10 days, participants will march 400 miles southward to the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. Volunteers and veterans will take turns marching, carrying two ruck sacks filled with nearly 7,000 service member dog tags. The tags include 57 of Nevada’s fallen. All 7,000 died in combat in the post 9-11, Global War on Terrorism.

Once in Boulder City, the two ruck sacks containing the 7,000 dog tags will be laid in front of a ceremonial wreath at the cemetery. The 57 Nevada dog tags will also be presented during the Memorial Day ceremony in Boulder City.

The march is hosted by University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Truckee Meadows Community College.
