Pope Francis Honors Colonel Susan Malone with Prestigious Papal Recognition


Pope Francis honored retired U.S. Marine Colonel and former FBI agent Susan Malone with the title of Dame of St. Gregory the Great for her decades of service to the military, international security, and the Catholic Church. The papal honor recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional service and philanthropic leadership within their communities and the church.  

Colonel Malone’s forty-year career encompasses federal investigations, intelligence, and international civil affairs. She has served in the FBI, U.S. Marine Corps, State Department, and United Nations mission in Iraq, Jordan, and Indonesia. She has advised the governments of Haiti and Iraq on human rights and anti-corruption. She has also served as a senior law and justice advisor for the U.S. government in various capacities.  

Colonel Malone was recently honored as one of the first two female FBI agents in 1972. Currently she serves as the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for Nevada, supporting veterans.
