Recognizing Our Cold War Veterans


The Cold War lasted nearly five decades during which generations of our Veterans served and stood ready in this time of restless peace. Beginning in 1949, the United States expanded its policy to being prepared to act militarily to prevent the spread of communism to the free world. While many people may have different opinions of the decisions made, the willingness of our service members to enlist and serve this period should not be diminished. As we approach the 30th anniversary of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the 33rd anniversary of the end of the Cold War we want to ensure that everyone has a chance to learn of their legacy and what the times meant in history.
