- Nevada Transition Assistance Program (NVTAP)
By Amanda Schroeder, wife of Christopher Schroeder, CSM (USA Retired)
Sharing this important information regarding the Reno-Sparks Sewer Rebate Program. There have been a few changes this year that may impact you!
In Reno, the program was approved again for eligible residents. As in prior years, one of the eligible groups is veterans receiving VA disability benefits (any percentage rating, no income restrictions). In some cases, tenants are eligible. Note: The City of Reno appears to be renaming the program from the Sewer Rebate Program to the Sewer Utility Assistance Program.
The rebate this year is up to $221 for Reno and is available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds run out. For resident homeowners, the rebate will be applied as a sewer account credit rather than a check.
Starting July 1, Reno residents may obtain an application on the website or by calling 775-334-2365 or visiting City Hall at 1 E. 1st St, first floor, M – F 9:00am – 4:00pm.
Applications and required documents must be submitted no earlier than July 1 and no later than August 31. Please read the application carefully for more details. The City’s sewer rebate pamphlet and application are below.
In Sparks, the City of Sparks’ Client Relations department notes the City has not yet determined if the sewer rebate will be offered again this year, but they expect to know by the end of July. If their City Council approves the rebate, the application period will be between August and September. We will update this information when it becomes available.
