Southern Nevada State Veterans Home Maintains Highest CMS 5-Star Quality Rating

(Boulder City, NV) – The Southern Nevada State Veterans Home (SNSVH) has again received the highest rating possible from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), a 5-star quality rating. According to CMS, only 10 percent of skilled care nursing facilities in each state receive the top 5-star rating.

CMS uses the 5-star rating system as a tool to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare quality between nursing homes. The system gives each nursing home a rating between 1 and 5 stars with the highest rating being 5 stars and the lowest of 1 star.  CMS notes 5-star nursing homes are considered to have above average quality and care.  The CMS categories rated include; Overall Quality, Health Inspection, Quality Measure, Staffing and RN Staffing.

Linda Gelinger, SNSVH Administrator, attributes the high ranking to an outstanding team that prioritizes resident and family satisfaction. “A 5-star rating from CMS is the ultimate team achievement earned by facilities that can guarantee a top-notch, premium health care experience. This says so many positive things about our leadership team and health care providers who are passionate about delivering the very best of care. Our veterans and their families deserve the very best of care and this demonstrates we remain committed to providing it.”

SNSVH has maintained its 5-star rating for several years in a row. SNSVH is a 180-bed skilled nursing care facility located in Boulder City, Nevada. It serves veterans, their spouses and Gold Star parents offering 24-hour skilled nursing care with a clinical team committed to “Caring for Nevada’s Heroes.” It is a State-owned and State-operated facility receiving support from the US Department of Veterans Affairs. SNSVH is Medicare/Medicaid certified.
