Special Ceremony Honors Veteran/Veteran of the Month/Youth Serving Veterans Award Recipients

Congratulations to the Veteran of the Month (VOM), Veteran Supporter of the Month (VSM) and Youth Serving Veterans Award (YSVA) recipients!  

A special ceremony was held in Las Vegas on March 7, 2024, to honor and recognize the following recipients:  

William “Bill” Dolan, U.S. Army, VOM for April 2024. Bill’s accomplishments are many. He has been serving veterans for more than a decade supporting the Disabled American Veterans in Pahrump, serving as the local Chapter Commander. He has also served as a Chapter Judge Advocate and Legislative Chairman for many years. Bill is always there when called upon!   

Military Officers Association – Southern Nevada Chapter, VSM for March 2024. Members serve as senior instructors. They advocate and promote leadership skills among young men and women in southern Nevada. They also assist veterans and surviving spouses of veterans obtain benefits earned through military service.  

Stephanie Helms, VSM for May 2024. Stephanie is the Executive Director for the Kline Veterans Fund. The nonprofit provides emergency housing assistance and other support for at-risk veterans and their families. She is credited with raising nearly $2-million dollars to support veteran housing, utility assistance, college and trade school scholarships, service dog training as well as providing care kits for veterans in hospice and assisted living.  

Vincent Ruiz, YSVA for March 2024. Vincent has been a volunteer in the suicide prevention effort, Race to Erase 22, since its inception in 2016. Whenever he races, he carries the memorial poster of a Fallen Warrior, lost to suicide, and lets the family know he is honoring their loved one and is making sure their loved one is not forgotten.  

Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony, Nevada’s Congressional delegation, as well as Veterans Services Commission members Kacy Drury and Jeff Detrick were on hand to help honor the recipients.
