Mark you calendar for Veterans Day 2019! This year, Veterans Day, November 11, 2019, falls on a Monday.
We would love to hear from YOU on your plans to recognize and honor the day. If the public can attend, tell us what your veteran service organization, civic group, city, or town plans to do on Veterans Day! We’d like to share it with others so they can join in the celebration, recognition and honor of the men and women who have served in the U.S Armed Forces!
Below are some of the bigger annual Veterans Day activities planned:
Las Vegas
In southern Nevada, Las Vegas is hosting its annual Veterans Day Parade, boasting it’s the biggest parade west of the Mississippi. NDVS will be participating in the big parade again this year! For more information click here
Boulder City
Later in the day, join us in Boulder City at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home! Volunteers are planning another exciting Veterans Day event with a new twist this year!
Performer Marilyn O’Leary will sing the “National Anthem” and “God Bless America.” O’Leary is a Las Vegas treasure. She sang with Dean Martin and was one of the USO singers who toured with Bob Hope to Vietnam, on ships, and other countries. She is also a former Miss Alaska, former Miss Nevada and former showgirl! How cool is that? The VFW is sponsoring the 2019 event. The ceremony begins at 1:30 PM.
Reno
In northern Nevada, Reno is hosting its annual Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2019. This year’s theme commemorates the centennial of Veterans Day, formally Armistice Day. NDVS will be participating in the parade again this year. Come and join us!
