NDVS honored 25 veterans in a Veterans in Care (VIC) ceremony on Wednesday, August 24th at Oakmont of the Lakes, Assisted Living and Memory Care. The VIC program recognizes and honors veterans living in community-based care facilities across Nevada for their past and continued service to our country. Nearly 40 people attended the ceremony, providing a great deal of support and recognition to the veterans living at the facility.
American Legion Post 76 presented the colors. Members also assisted Director Wagar in presenting NDVS Pins of Valor to each recipient. Theses pins are specially made to honor VIC recipients. Maria Mandaleni-Orozco, NDVS Outreach Director, provided information on benefits through the Veterans Benefit Administration including disability compensation, Aid & Attendance, different kinds of pensions, and other benefits available to not only veterans but their families.
NDVS is proud to partner with community-based care facilities to continue supporting veterans of all eras and help them receive benefits earned through their military service. If you work in or know of a facility interested in hosting a VIC Ceremony, please reach out to Rachel Jelenic, Healthcare Program Manager, at jelenicr@veterans.nv.gov.
