A special ceremony to honor 113 Vietnam War veterans living at the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home was held on Friday, March 28, 2025. Vietnam War Veterans Day is a National Day of Remembrance and gratitude for those who served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. The day honors the courage, sacrifices, and hardships faced by these veterans.
Members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1076, Southern Nevada Patriot Guard Riders, and Infinity Hospice supported the ceremony.
In Reno, Vietnam War Veterans of America Sierra Nevada Chapter 989 hosted a ceremony at Truckee Meadows Community College. The ceremony of “Honor & Sacrifice” also honored veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally the ceremony recognized Gold Star Families.
The featured speaker included 1975 Vietnam refugee, Colonel Jackson Doan, Commanding Officer with the U.S. Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center in Bridgeport, California. Other speakers included Congressman Mark Amodei, Brigadier General Rodger “Dan” Waters, Brigadier General Michael Peyeri, Dr. Spring Myers, VA Community Engagement Partnership Coordinator and Mr. Jeff Evans, three-time Gold Star Family member.
