Virginia City VFW Seeks Support to Build Post Home-Resource Center

The Virginia City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8071 is seeking corporate and other sponsors to build a new Post Home and Resource Center. The new building will serve as the Post’s business office, Veteran Resource Center, meeting hall and community building. This facility will establish a location for veterans to seek assistance and support. Members have already purchased a suitable lot that overlooks the eastern canyon and hills on the south side of C Street, near the Fourth Ward School.

Examples of support include cash donations, corporate grants, business sponsorships, building materials, as well as professional services that include grading, excavating, masonry, plumbing, electrical, etc.

To support this effort contact John Strahan at john.strahan@outlook.com. All donations are tax deductible.

The new home will be dedicated to the memory and honor of Staff Sergeant Bryan E. Bolander, U.S. Army. On April 29, 2008, Staff Sergeant Bolander was tragically killed in action while serving in Iraq. The young soldier was near the end of his fourth tour and looking forward to coming home to get married at the time of his death. He left behind his son Tyler and his fiancé Sandra. He was 26-years-old. His parents are long-time Virginia City residents.
