Honoring the Fallen: Memorial Day 2026 Observances Across Nevada

Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 25, with ceremonies planned at both the Southern and Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemeteries to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Governor Joe Lombardo will be in attendance at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The ceremony will be at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel, providing another opportunity for the community to come together in honor of Nevada’s fallen heroes.

Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony has been invited to attend the ceremony at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Fernley cemetery will hold its Memorial Day ceremony at 11:00 a.m. It will bring families, veterans, and community members together for a solemn tribute of remembrance and reflection.

In preparation for Memorial Day, the annual Flag In will take place on Saturday, May 23, when volunteers place an American flag at each gravesite in tribute to those interred. Flag In begins early in the morning at 7:00 a.m. in Southern Nevada and 8:30 a.m. in Northern Nevada and remains one of the most meaningful traditions of the holiday weekend.

At the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, a Special Forces ceremony will also be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 24th.

These annual events serve as a powerful reminder of sacrifice, service, and the enduring gratitude of a nation.
