Be a Hero, Connect with a Hero

The Heroes for Heroes program is designed to provide veterans with social support through social interaction. Right now, the program is recruiting volunteers to connect with participating veterans for regular “virtual visits,” to provide that human connection in a safe setting to enhance quality of life or even alleviate isolation, loneliness or boredom.

The program has been on-boarding interested veterans living in the Southern Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City. As you may know, COVID-19 severely restricted visitation at the home for these veterans, many of whom are senior citizens. The program will also reach out to veterans across Nevada who also want to participate.

The Heroes for Heroes program is a collaboration between NDVS and a nonprofit with expertise in supporting senior citizens, the Nevada Ensures Support Together (NEST) Collaborative.

If you are interested in signing up for the program, contact Rachel Jelenic at (775) 825-9849 or email to:  jelenicr@veterans.nv.gov
