- Nevada Transition Assistance Program (NVTAP)
In June, members of Outlook Christian Church’s Youth Group volunteered at the Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (NNSVH) shoveling and wheelbarrowing three yards of soil into planter boxes. Thank you to these outstanding young people for donating their time and energy to help local veterans!
Shaw Middle School students raised $616 in a school fundraiser for the NNSVH, as well as collecting face mask and hand sanitizer donations. We appreciate the students’ thoughtfulness, dedication and motivation to help keep veterans at the NNSVH safe!
Opened in the fall of 2019 in Sparks, Nevada, the NNSVH is a 102,000–square–foot facility with 96 beds and a host of amenities. The NNSVH is designed for Nevada’s heroes as an alternative to traditional nursing homes. The NNSVH offers excellent care for veterans, their spouses, and Gold Star family members while treating them with the honor and respect they deserve. Providing short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and memory care, NNSVH is overseen by the Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) and managed by Avalon Health Care Management.
NDVS is dedicated to helping Nevada veterans receive the services, benefits and quality of life they deserve. In addition to offering benefits counseling and assistance, which includes filing VA claims at no cost, NDVS manages two State Veterans Homes and two Veterans Memorial Cemeteries.
